Richard Seymour absent from practice after trade

Defensive monster Richard Seyour has yet to report to the after being traded yesterday. Seymour, who had 8.0 sacks last year was dealt to the Raiders for one first round pick in the 2011 draft. One pick?!? That's all this guy was worth to the Pats? False. Now as a person who usually says suck it up and play, I am a little torn on this one. a downright frightening defense. If he does not feel at the very least a little burned, he's a liar. To be an essential piece to a championship defense and wind up traded to one of the worst teams in the league, in the same conference no less, has to hurt a bit. On the other side of the coin, however, it is a business after all. Seymour is still going to get paid. So as I said above, suck it up and play! With the first game of preseason against the Dallas Cowboys just a few short days away, we will soon get our first glance of what this team will be doing in the 2009 season. With the season in mind, there are a couple of things that intrigue me and I am personally anxious to see how things will unfold.Firstly, I am excited to see our first team offense jump on the field and JaMarcus Russell prove his doubters wrong. With an arsenal of speed at Wide Receiver, and one of the best Running Back groups in the league, and a Tight End that is among the best, he is set up to be successful. With Paul Hackett coaching him to make faster decisions, I'm optimistic that even if the O-Line is not the best in the league, Russell will be able to find a target fast enough to make them look spectacular. With the talent that we do possess in scoring positions on offense, it's hard not to be optimistic about the regular season.Defensively -- I can not wait to see if Mike Mitchell was worth the 2nd Round Pick. I am confident in our Cornerbacks' ability to cover, as well as Morrison and Howard's ability to cover the passes over the middle and the dumps. However, as everyone knows, the biggest question mark is "Have the Raiders done anything to better their defense against the run?" With Seattle, he fielded a defense that ranked 2nd in the league in both passing and rushing - allowing only one 100 yard rusher in the season. With that said, the tools are in place.
